Highlights of 2004

On the heels of a recent trip to Music City Nashville, Rosita gets prepared to go right back. She was invited to return to Nashville to co-write with long-standing hit writer Philip Douglas. He’s written with everyone from Lonestar to the Backstreet Boys.

Initially she went to partake in the prestigious Nashville Songwriters Associations advance songwriting workshop, where you audition to get in by sending them your songs and being accepted, or not. The stellar line up of hit song writer/teachers included Rivers Rutherford (Faith Hill, Tim McGraw), David Vincent Williams (song of the year winner for the smash hit Moving on), James Dean Hicks (Jessica Simpson, Wynona, plus many more), and Hugh Prestwood (Trisha Yearwood, James Taylor). When you have a song recorded by James Taylor, you’re a GOD says Rosita. Others in the faculty were Ralph Murphy (who as a publisher, has had more than twenty #1 records), Angela Kaset she blew me away, her songs were oh my GOD songs and there was the ever inspiring Rick Beresford, who’s students have gone on to win song writing awards and publishing contracts as a result of his amazing coaching. This incredibly successful and gifted group of people chose Rosita as a favorite songwriter of the workshop. You go girl!!

Rosita also attended BEAMS (Breckenridge Education and Music Seminar). BEAMS brings together some of Americas top songwriters and music industry professionals. I met acknowledged music manager/consultant John Dotson from Nashville, he was very inspiring and we just clicked. Working out the bugs on some of my songs with producer/songwriter Jamie Houston was a humbling experience. His extensive discography includes Santana, Kid Rock, Macy Gray and a ton of other artists. Even if you consider yourself a great songwriter, you can always be an even better songwriter, and it really helps to be around the people who are hugely successful at it and hear what they have to say. Park your ego at the door and keep an open mind, there is always room for improvement highlights-of-2004
